Language is a system of conventional spoken, manual, or written symbols by means of which human beings, as members of social group and participants in it’s culture, express themselves. Language is the principal method of human communication, consisting of words used in a structured of writing , speech etc.
Based on this background, SMAIT Al Haraki as a formal education unit organizes FUNTASTIC activity (To Understand English Natively Effectively) in semester 1 year of academic 2022-2023. This activity is carried out to equip SMAIT Al Haraki students in getting used to hear and speak directly with native English speakers. What makes the difference this year is that there have been more SMALKI students so that the activities will be divided into level 10,level 11 and level 12.
Funtastic activities for English with Ms.Char, during these activities the students were very active in learning and asking questions. Level X can Capturing meaning in descriptive text, oral and written simple about people, tourist attractions, and famous historical buildings. editing oral and written descriptive texts, simple, about people, tourist attractions, and family. But in Funtastic activities focus to describe Harry Potter and the students also learn about formula of future tense. Level XI Compose spoken and written texts to state, asking and responding to expressions of giving suggestions and offers, taking into account social functions, text structures, and linguistic elements that are correct and in context. The student’s bring their digital poster about food and present them and hold a dialogue about giving suggestions and offer. Level XII Capturing contextual meaning related to the social function of the text structure, and the linguistic elements of a specific text in the form of a job application letter, which provides information including identity background. The students show the application letter to the native and do the dialogue about how to make a good application letter for the future.
Funtastic is very interesting and very useful event for students. During the activity the children actively asked and also answered the questions given by the native. When learning is almost finished native speakers give gifts to active students in the form of Go-Pay voucher.
