KEMBARA stands for Kemah Bakti Al Haraki, was an event organized by SMAIT AL HARAKI, a student camp event where students are expected to understand the meaning of camping and learn about scouting. The event takes place in the Cigombong area and lasts for three days from March 14-16, 2023. The KEMBARA event is designed to teach SMAIT AL HARAKI students about the importance of life, socialization, and sharing with others.
During the KEMBARA event, students engage in various activities, including scouting, performing arts, collecting data in research activities, and social engagement. The scouting activities of SMAIT AL HARAKI students include ceremonial scouting activities and wide games. In the wide game activities, students play while learning to test their scouting skills. There are four activities that students must follow, including scouting knowledge posts, human sensory abilities (KIM) material, marching activity, and obstacle course activity. Students also take special skills marks (TKK) in religious knowledge, including prayer and reading and memorizing Al-Qur’an tests. This is to make SMAIT AL HARAKI students a generation that has religious-based scouting knowledge.
The KEMBARA activity also included research data collection, which was conducted on the second day of the event. The level 11 students were divided into 6 groups according to their intended college majors: Education, Health, Art, Civil Engineering, Informatics Engineering, and Business Management. Each group was assigned to collect data related to their respective fields.
The Health group conducted health screenings for the community, including checking weight, height, blood sugar, and uric acid levels. This group emphasized the importance of maintaining good health and taking preventive measures to avoid illnesses. The Informatics Engineering group interviewed a farmer and tested their self-designed watering pot, a tool that automatically waters plants using sophisticated technology. The Business Management group interviewed several traders in the Cigombong area and taught them how to use e-commerce for sales in the neighborhood using apps like Shopee and Gojek.
On the evening of the second day, all SMAIT AL HARAKI students presented the results of their research data collection, and the Art, Education, and Civil Engineering groups presented what they planned to do with their collected research data. The Art group conducted data collection on the third day by teaching Bina Insan Mandir Junior High School students how to use dry leaves and plastic bottles to make bookmarks, pots, and decorations using twigs and Japanese ribbons. The Civil Engineering group collected data by analyzing the field fund roads in the school environment by inviting Bina Insan Mandiri Junior High School students to tour the school and interviews. The Education group collected data by interviewing students and teaching the importance of English in life, emphasizing the proper use of the language.
Lastly, on the third day, the students participated in social engagement, which aimed to teach them the importance of sharing with others. The level 11 students of SMAIT AL HARAKI were taught the material not only to benefit themselves but also to share the knowledge with others. The Health group continued to conduct health checks for the students of Bina Insan Mandiri Junior High School, including checking height and weight, and color blindness.
Overall, the KEMBARA activity provided a holistic learning experience for the level 11 students of SMAIT AL HARAKI. The activity aimed to teach them not only about camping and scouting but also about the importance of socializing with people of various ages and sharing knowledge with others. The research data collection allowed them to apply their knowledge in real-life situations, while the social engagement component emphasized the importance of social responsibility and giving back to the community.
The KEMBARA activity also fostered a sense of teamwork and camaraderie among the students. They were able to work together towards a common goal and support each other throughout the different activities. The scouting activities, in particular, helped them develop their scouting skills and encouraged them to work collaboratively. The obstacle course activity taught them the value of perseverance and teamwork in overcoming obstacles in life.
In addition, the KEMBARA activity allowed the level 11 students to explore and appreciate the beauty of nature. The free nature of the Cigombong area provided them with the opportunity to experience the outdoors and develop a deeper appreciation for the environment. The Art group’s activity, in particular, emphasized the importance of sustainability and creativity in utilizing natural resources.
Furthermore, the KEMBARA activity aimed to develop the students’ religious-based scouting knowledge. The activities were designed to promote a deeper understanding of the Islamic faith and its values, including prayer and reading and memorizing Al-Qur’an. The students were encouraged to apply these values in their daily lives and become a Rabbani generation that embodies the teachings of Islam.
In conclusion, the Kembara activity conducted by SMAIT AL HARAKI students is a great opportunity for students to learn and grow both individually and socially. Through this activity, students can experience camping and scouting activities while exploring the natural environment of Cigombong. Additionally, students can learn about social engagement and the importance of giving back to the community.
The Kembara activity also provides a platform for students to conduct research and collect data. By dividing into groups based on their future college majors, students can learn about their chosen fields and practice research skills. This hands-on experience can be valuable in preparing them for future academic pursuits.
Overall, the Kembara activity is an excellent example of how experiential learning can be effective in providing students with a well-rounded education. It allows students to apply what they have learned in the classroom in a practical setting and fosters their personal and social growth. The skills and knowledge gained through this activity can help prepare students for success in their future endeavors.
